Liquidatum - Best practises for Liquidity Risk

The Third annual Liquidity Risk Forum was held at the Wellcome collection in London on Tuesday 9th March 2010 and involved over 80 participants from more than 50 institutions, including banks, regulators and investors.

Market participants have come to realise that there is unlikely to be a return to normal if you consider market conditions pre-crisis to be normal. However, the conditions in the second half of 2008 were not normal either. Or were they? So what is the new “norm”?

In the Liquidity Risk Forum 2010 a number of issues were discussed to give us a better understanding of what the new norm is or is likely to be.

These included, amongst others:

• Global Vs local liquidity management

• Stress testing: lessons learnt from the crisis and what can be learnt from other industries

• Transparency: what do banks give and what do investors want

• What will be the impact of the introduction of the proposed Basel liquidity risk standards?
